Sexual Ethics
The sexual revolution in the West began in the 1960s, and within a few decades, the ideology of sexual liberation went from the fringe to the mainstream, leading to approving all forms of sexual behaviours. In the last 30 years, the LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and other gender identities) Movement has been at the forefront of the sexual revolution, redefining gender and the institution of marriage, and “liberating” all kinds of sexual norms. Since its founding, The Society for Truth and Light (STL) has concerned itself with sexual politics and sex culture in Hong Kong, especially in responding to the politics of the LGBT+ Movement that has taken the world by the storm in the last 2 decades.
STL takes a Christian stance as its starting point in reflecting on and responding to sexual ethics, and the Christian faith dominates STL's basic values. However, faith is not the only argument adopted by STL. It also tries to integrate science, statistics, medicine, psychology, philosophy, public policy, and human experience, etc. in its researches, discussions, reflections and social advocacy. As a member of the Christian Church and of a multifaceted society, STL hopes that we can explore these issues with all, believers and non-believers.
