Since Bible times, the Christian faith has never been separated from social concern. The Bible teaches that we should love others as ourselves, and instructs believers to look not only to their own interests, but also to the interests of others, and that society, as a community, is an object of the believers’ concern. Areas of social concern can go all the way from care for the community and the poor to the city’s governance and administration.
